2005 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, Robert Grubbs, discusses how the availability of a catalyst that promotes scrambling of the fragments of a carbon-carbon double bond by a metathesis reaction has led to a variety of commercial applications including the production of tough polymers and highly functionalized pharmaceuticals.
